Our Year in Review

2024 was a tremendous year for the UMLAUF and we're excited to share with you what we accomplished. Our Annual Report details a year of impactful exhibitions, community engagement, and the public presentation of our Vision Plan.

We can't wait to see what's in store for 2025!

2024 At a Glance

As 2024 comes to a close, we want to thank everyone who has been a part of the UMLAUF community. Whether you strolled through the garden, attended an exhibition, Family Day, a wedding, or participated in one of the community engagement meetings to help determine our future, we hope it made a meaningful impression. You are what propels the UMLAUF forward.

Community Impact

From free monthly Family Days to artists’ talks to the bronze conservation workshop, we offered educational opportunities for a wide variety of guests. Kids learned how to nurture a garden or sculpt a figure in clay. Adults danced to Butch Hancock and Ray Benson at our James Surls opening. Flying hawks and big-eyed owls helped teach the public about wildlife conservation at our free annual StrawFest. We also visited five different Title 1 schools every week for the entire academic year to teach art after school as part of Shaping Space.

The Art

Throughout 2024, the UMLAUF provided $23,912 in direct support of artists, musicians, and performers. Plus, we successfully cataloged more than 700 archival objects from the Umlauf Home and Studio Collection, inaugurated the Suspended exhibition series, and washed and waxed 10 public and private bronze sculptures in the Austin community.

Private Events

8,300 guests visited the UMLAUF as part of a private rental of the space. Whether for a non-profit event, wedding, corporate meeting, or celebration of life, we're proud to host these moments of connection amongst art and nature.

Thank You To Our Supporters

None of this would be possible without the strong team of staff, volunteers, docents, interns, and Board members who help run the organization. It's a joy to have nurtured relationships with everyone who has come through the Garden, including our generous donors and sponsors.
