Umlauf entered two pieces into Dallas Love Field’s competition for a sculpture to stand at the entrance to the airport. Umlauf won both first and second place! The second place design used female figures similar to this one to represent the four seasons. Twenty years later, it was used as a scale model for a sculpture three times this size placed at the entrance of the Hilton Lincoln Center, Dallas.
