A bas-relief is an architectural piece in which the sculpture is carved from a flat surface so that the figures project from the background. This is a scale model for the central panel over the entrance doors to Christ Episcopal Church, San Antonio. The full-sized panel is 13 feet high, by 9 feet wide – or 4 times as large as the model.
