A self-guided map to the garden is available at the front desk.
Docent-led tours of the gardens are available for the cost of regular admission for groups of 10 or more. A minimum of 2 weeks advance notice is required for all tour requests.
Whether it is a garden society, a second grade class, a Girl Scout troop, or a church club, one of the Umlauf’s volunteer docents will walk the guests through. Whether there are 10 people or 100, the Umlauf will work to schedule the group the best way possible. Tours are scheduled during normal business hours, Wednesday through Friday from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm and on the weekends from 1:00 to 4:30 pm. Private tours may also be scheduled during staff’s office hours on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Free tours are available to all independent school districts. This includes the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired (TSBVI), Texas School for the Deaf (TSD), special needs students (offered education until age 25), Communities in Schools (CIS) programs, and other community organizations associated with children’s education and students with special needs. Private student groups are $1 per person.
Sculpture Safari, a scavenger hunt through the garden, is available at the front desk during regular visits to the Umlauf. Visitors search the garden for sculptures pictured on laminated maps. Straight forward images are available for young visitors, while more difficult versions are available for more skilled detectives! Stickers are awarded for all returned maps.
Please call us at (512) 445-5582 ext. 101 to schedule a tour or email us at tours.umlaufsculpture.org.
